The James Allen obelisk, in Shepton Mallet Cemetery, honors the life and works of the world-famous horticulturalist who bred specialty snowdrops. The restoration of the Obelisk was part of the 2021 Snowdrop festival celebrations.
The memorial, which stands at three meters high, was fully restored using new Forest of Dean stone each element cut and carved to match the original structure. Carved in the workshop and carefully transported to site; a team on completed the complex task of fixing in place as featured on the local BBC news!
