In 2022 Swindon Town Council awarded the contract to undertake specialist cleaning and restoration of the masonry of the Grade II listed structure.
The cleaning was completed using the ThermaTech system. High temperature water to remove dirt, grime, pollutants, and biological growth, avoiding further damage to the stone.
Consulting with the local conservation officer to determine the best approach to restore the damaged area; where possible the original stone was retained and consolidated. Damaged areas of the ashlar cornice and mouldings were cut out using hand tools and replacement stone sourced from Wolffstone Quarry, carved by our stone masons to match the existing structure. Cement render was removed from the archways and a new lime shelter coat applied
