Areas of damaged stonework at the entrance of the building required stone replacements and repairs. Our team assessed the damaged area, identifying stone to be removed. Our stone masons took templates of the stone on site and new Portland Stone, supplied by Wolffstone Quarry, was expertly carved in our workshop.
Using a combination of traditional techniques and modern expertise, scaffolding and lifting equipment, the new stones were fixed seamlessly into the facade, ensuring a cohesive and visually appealing result. Cracked joints were carefully re-pointed, enhancing both the appearance and stability of the building. Traditional lime mortar was used to maintain authenticity. Stones that were slightly mis-aligned were skilfully rubbed in and minor damaged areas were indented, ensuring that the restoration work seamlessly blended with the surrounding structure.
